Volkswagen Celebrates Chattanooga Plant Milestone

It will be one year in April since the first 2012 Volkswagen Passat was produced at the Volkswagen Chattanooga, TN factory. Though, the factory doors were not even open for mass production until May of 2011. With less than a year of mass-production at the factory, it is without a doubt impressive that Volkswagen is celebrating the creation of their 50,000th vehicle built at the Chattanooga factory.
Heritage Volkswagen and Subaru is exceptionally proud too. This achievement not only demonstrates how hard the plant's team is working, but also how the demand for Passat has grown. The mid-size sedan has, after all, been named as the "2012 Car of the Year ®" by Motor Trend and a "Top Safety Pick" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The 50,000th Volkswagen Passat in question was a fully-loaded, white, 2.5-liter, SE trim model. The team that built it posed together and proud for a picture, holding up a banner with the number 50,000 on it. Certainly, the 2,500 Chattanooga employees aren't the only ones ecstatic about this accomplishment. Volkswagen is overjoyed as well. The German automaker is so thrilled that they have promised to create another 200 jobs to the factory's workforce in an effort to keep up with the demand.
Please feel free to stop by Heritage Volkswagen and Subaru to take the "2012 Car of the Year" for a test drive. We are located at 9808 Reisterstown Road Owings Mills, MD 21117 and are eager to share specs, compare trims, and arrange a test drive for you.
