It feels like it was yesterday that we were clueless as to what we should expect from the 2013 Subaru Coupe, BRZ. We didn't even know any of its specifications. But, since the Japanese automaker debuted a production car, we can assure you that it is even more amazing than we anticipated!
Heritage Volkswagen and Subaru in Owings Mills, Maryland will see the two door Subie carrying a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine under its aluminum hood sometime next year. The all-new flat-4, known within the auto maker as "FA engine" can produce roughly 150 pound-feet of torque at 2,800 rpm.
The rpm rises to 4,800, and again at 6,300 before 200-horsepower peaks at 7,000 rpm. The coupe has a combined estimated fuel economy of 30 mpg, putting the car well above other Japanese coupes.
The only trim levels available are Premium and Limited, and according to Inside Line critics, "both get a fairly extensive list of features."
"There's a standard navigation system, Bluetooth, satellite radio, HID headlights and a limited slip on all Premium models, while the Limited adds leather seats with Alcantara trim, auto climate control, seat heaters, push-button start and the all-important fog lights."1
Subaru enthusiasts should anticipate a base price to be somewhere around $25,000 for BRZ in May, 2012.
