Volkswagen Striving For 170 MPG

Striving for high miles per gallon is in no way a new trend. Volkswagen designed a concept car that could go 100 kilometers on 1 liter of fuel in 2002, which is the equivalent of about 235 mpg. In 2010, Volkswagen is showing the second generation of their 1 liter concept, the L1. The German auto maker intends to have it in production by 2013.

"We were packed to the gills," Tim stated upon returning home to Michigan. "My daily driver is a Chevy Suburban, and I wanted to see how a smaller, more fuel efficient vehicle…

That is because Volkswagen and Audi researchers are introducing the first anti-fogging and anti-icing car windscreen, which they developed together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Technology (IST) in Braunschweig.
